- Card is built well - it's a reference card, but the HSF cover is aluminum rather than plastic like most, making it more solid and achieving slightly better cooling efficiency. Factory overclock of 10MHz.Don't bother flashing this card with a 6970 BIOS - potentially dangerous as the memory timings and voltages are different (and this card only has two 6-pin PCIe power connectors unlike the 6970 that has a 6-pin and an 8-pin, so it obviously can't draw the same amount of power). Many report artifacting when doing so as reported by another reviewer. Simply mod the existing BIOS to unlock the disabled shaders (easy with a bit of googling). Then download MSI Afterburner and use that to overclock…
- Bought one for my I7 build and I'm glad I did. Plays Crysis 2 High Texture w/ no glitches w/ everything maxed up. I bought the Asus one cause I have an asus MB and thought maybe it might be a tinge more compatible although they're probably all the same among manufacturers. I run a I7 950 @ 4ghz and with the amd clocks wide open and it takes everything I can throw at it, and it's been over a year so the durability is there. The insanity of it is, if you want to you can parallel 2 or three together (depending on your MB) for even more gpu crunching.
