- I purchased this card to do CUDA development. Previously, I had two HD3870 ATI cards. To do CUDA development, of course I had to get a new card. This NVIDIA card runs fine with Linux. I don't have any experience running games, so can't speak to the 3D performance, but the card is cool and quiet when working on CUDA code. For the price, it is a great card. For professional use, a Tesla would be better, but this is fine for home use.
- It may be overkill to use this in a HTPC but I wanted a card that would utilize the Purevideo 4 spec from Nvidia. Purevideo 5 is now out but the 520 is an inferior card, IMO. It replaced a 8400GTX and my cpu utilization has been cut by a third. I only wish this came in a low-profile layout.
